Wish List Wednesday - Barruntando Ceramics

It's Wish List Wednesday again and this month I've discovered and fallen for Barruntando Ceramics. I actually found them through the Red Door Gallery website. The gallery is a stones throw away from my work and a great place to pick up gifts and homewares, it's stocked by local and independent makers and the staff are so friendly!
Barruntando Ceramics have their own Etsy site as well as distributing internationally from there base in Spain. The pieces are made by a group of five ladies who all came together over their shared love of ceramics, they hand craft in white earthenware clay because they like the purity of its colour and it's strength.
They make the most adorable pieces that are practical and cute, their work includes; spoon holders, cake toppers, salt and pepper shakers, jewellry, figures and their signature yarn bowls. Originally I was going to base this post around the Jurassic Clay Collection, set of five dinos that are hand painted and full of character but as I kept looking through their Etsy page I fell for the Mermaid Miniature Figures, Unicorn Cake Toppers and the Trees Ring Dish too.
They say that their main goals are to 'Create different, bold and modern, light and original utilitarian pottery.' and I think they have hit the nail on the head. So if you are looking for an interesting gift, something to brighten up your home or a little quirk to add to your special day then you should check them out. Everything is hand made and decorated so all their pieces are unique, no two are the same!

I'll leave you with a picture of the adorable dino team to swoon over. xxx

Wish List Wednesday - Porcelain Oyster Shell Necklace by Little Birdy

So I have decided to start a new feature called Wish List Wednesday, I know it’s not the most inventive name but stick with me. The plan is to share some of the lovely things I have come across in local shops and galleries as well as Instagram and websites like Etsy and Folksy and promoting the work of independent makers and artists.

My first item for the wish list is the beautifully crafted Porcelain Oyster Shell Necklace by Little Birdy, you can find it in her Folksy shop. She has a lot of beautiful products in the shop, prints and illustrations, textiles, hand painted ceramics and hand sculpted porcelain. The Mermaids & Ice Cream jewellery collection launched on Monday, 17th August, and it’s based around her fascination with ‘life beneath the waves and with natural science’. It’s a stunning range of oyster shell necklaces with pearls and adorable ice cream necklaces and brooches.
I’m totally in love with the Porcelain Oyster Shell Necklace which is two hand sculpted and pained oyster shells that open up to reveal a gold pearl hidden in between them. Painted in gold, blush pink and white it has beautiful polkadot detailing on it. Dreamy!
I have been swooning over the Bristol based artists work on Instagram for a while now, the ceramic narwhals, cats and pushme-pullyous are next on my list and have often been pointed out to my bearded companion with a wink and elbow nudge but to no avail… yet…

You can check out Little Birdy’s stockists in Bristol and London on her website or have a look around the Folksy shop. I hope you fall in love with her lovely wares as much as I have.
